孫子兵法有很多重要的觀念，不過其中筆者認為最重要的就是「知己知彼，百戰不殆」。

孫子兵法中提到需要瞭解的項目，要知「道」、「天」、「地」、「將」、「法」，這包括了現代的政治、經濟、軍事（戰略）、民意、氣象地理......等等資訊，可以說是多到不行。

當然，為了國家的成功（或說是不被征服），這些資訊是不可不知，也是不能不投入研究的。

因此，數千年來，許許多多的學者與專家都在如力研究出一種廣泛理解情勢的技術，並且用各種方法表示資訊。

這一方面的功夫，可以說是基礎中的基礎，應該是要加以重視才是。
